Dynamics CRM Server 2016 became generally available in Dec. 2015 to on-premises customers and received SP1 in May 2016. The release includes new sales and customer service capabilities, and platform and customization improvements.

CRM 3.0 left Extended support on Apr. 12, 2016, and customers will no longer receive support or fixes for the product. CRM 4.0 (still in support until Apr. 2018) has a different support issue. The product only works on Internet Explorer (IE) 8 and IE9, which are no longer supported on any current Windows release, so customers may need to upgrade by default to a newer CRM version or continue to use CRM 4.0 with a third-party browser.

CRM Server 2016 received its first service pack, SP1, in May 2016, alongside an update to CRM Online. The service pack included bug fixes and minor functional improvements. Customers have until July 10, 2017, to apply the service pack in order to continue receiving support.

The next release (called CRM Server 2017) is expected near the end of 2016 and should include new project management features for multiday service events and the integration of field service, customer surveying, and customizable Web portals, the result of recent acquisitions.
