Microsoft reports financial results in five business segments.

Business includes Office, Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Dynamics, and other software and online services for businesses, such as Office 365.

Server & Tools includes server platform software, such as Windows Server and SQL Server, System Center management software, developer tools, Windows Embedded (Windows Embedded Standard and Compact) OSs, and support and consulting services.

Windows & Windows Live includes Windows client OSs (such as Windows 7) and Windows Live software and services.

Entertainment & Devices includes Xbox, consumer hardware and software, Skype, mobile platforms (Windows Phone 7.x and Windows Mobile), and intellectual property licensing for other vendors’ mobile platforms (such as Google Android).

Online includes Bing, MSN, and products for advertisers and publishers.

The row “Other” counts revenue and expenses that cannot be attributed to any single business segment, including legal expenditures and broad-based marketing and administrative expenses.
