An update to the AVIcode software Microsoft acquired in 2010 adds support for the .NET Framework 4.0 and several new monitoring and reporting options. The new AVIcode Management Pack (MP) for System Center Operations Manager has similar features. AVIcode helps developers monitor the performance of and find problems with distributed applications that have not been instrumented for debugging performance issues. AVIcode 5.7, released in Dec. 2010, is available at no charge, but only for customers who have System Center or Core Infrastructure Server licenses and active Software Assurance.

Distributed Applications Need Monitoring

AVIcode is a Microsoft subsidiary that was acquired in Oct. 2010. The AVIcode software technology is a .NET application performance monitoring tool that works with Operations Manager to help developers monitor application performance and find problems with distributed applications, helping reduce the time required to fix problems. Management packs for Microsoft’s business applications, such as BizTalk, SharePoint, and SQL Reporting Services, will help with automation of Microsoft’s cloud data centers.
