Azure Managed Disks Expands Offerings

Azure Managed Disks, which provide attached storage for Azure VMs, are available in several types to accommodate size and performance requirements of hosted applications.

Previews of higher capacity options with greater performance are available for all Azure Managed Disks types. Organizations that previously required the performance capabilities of Premium SSD Managed Disks might be able to reduce costs by adopting Standard SSD Managed Disks at new performance levels.

A new disk type called Ultra SSD Managed Disks (in preview) will offer high performance that can be adjusted on-the-fly. Customers who required high-end disk performance that was unavailable in Azure should examine Ultra SSD Managed Disks or the newer performance tiers of Premium SSD Managed Disks.
