Microsoft has updated its Certified Partner program for 2003 to give partners better support, make it easier for customers to find a partner, and to provide other benefits. The measures are part of a US$500 million incremental investment in partner services that Microsoft announced in July 2002.

The company has developed an online “Concierge Service” for Microsoft Certified Partners. The service uses Web-based chat (currently in English only) to support partners worldwide who need to locate additional technical resources.

The Microsoft Resource Directory, an online database that customers can use to search for a Certified Partner with particular skills or experience in their region, has been redesigned to improve customers’ ability to search for Certified Partners by solution, industry, or expertise.

Partners already receive free licenses for some Microsoft products, and additional products have been added to that list.

Ongoing benefits of the program that have not changed include five free support incident calls; access to private, Microsoft-monitored newsgroups; TechNet and MSDN Universal subscriptions; access to betas and early product releases; sales and technical training; and technical and sales documentation.
