A new version of Windows 10 is planned for initial release in Mar. 2017. Called the Creators Update, it delivers new graphics, contacts, and gaming capabilities aimed at consumers, artists, and designers, but it will also mark the end of support for earlier versions of Windows 10 on some business PCs. Organizations should determine whether their PCs will be affected by the support milestones, even if the new features of the Creators Update do not apply to them.

Nov. 2016 and July 2017 Support Milestones

The Creators Update will be the next feature update to Windows 10. Windows 10 feature updates or versions are offered in a series of releases called servicing branches:

  • Windows Insider Preview, for testing preproduction versions
  • Current Branch (CB) delivers feature updates periodically and fixes monthly
  • Current Branch for Business (CBB), for business PCs, delivers feature updates two to three times per year and fixes monthly
  • Long-Term Servicing Branch (LTSB), for specialized
