Analyst ReportGigJam Preview Interface
Office 365 GigJam, a selective data sharing and collaboration application, is in public preview.
The top screen shows the markup view, where a user can designate data for sharing with other GigJam users. The file called Current Articles.docx has been imported from the user’s OneDrive folder. Using a pen or mouse, the user then circles the information they want to share with recipients and crosses out any irrelevant or inappropriate data. On the right of this screen, the user has imported a JPG file; the bubble on the lower right shows that they have made one comment (not shown here). After the sender has selected all the data to share, the sender can choose the e-mail addresses of people to share it with, select whether the information is shared in read-only or “work with” mode, and then click the right-arrow icon to send the modified view.
The bottom screen shows the recipient’s view of the shared data, which is sent in a format known as a “card.” The data that was redacted by the sender is not transmitted to the recipient as part of the card. If the card was sent in “work with” mode, the recipient will be able to make their own changes, which will be instantly shared with the sender. On the right side of the screen, the recipient has clicked the voice bubble icon, revealing notes left on the included image (JPG); the recipient can add their own notes to this list if “work with” permission was granted.
