  • Microsoft 365 Education offers most of the features included in commercial enterprise Microsoft 365 offerings, with some unique features and nuanced differences.
  • A key feature unique to Microsoft 365 Education suites is the Student Use Benefit, which entitles the organization to provide select software and services to students at no additional cost.
  • Other than the Student Use Benefit, most of the differences of the Microsoft 365 Education suites are intended to address specific needs and scenarios of education customers.

Microsoft 365 Education offerings mirror the higher-tiered Microsoft 365 Enterprise offerings but include select features designed for higher-ed and K-12 educational scenarios, while excluding some features of E3/E5 optimized for business scenarios. Notably, Education suites offer the Student Use Benefit, which offers select software and services of the Microsoft 365 Enterprise suite to students at no additional cost, although the number of student licenses available is limited, and determined by the number of staff that are licensed. For more information on the Student Use Benefit, see the sidebar “Understanding the Student Use Benefit”.)
