Office LTSC Timeline

Office Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) 2024 extends the supported lifespan of the Office suites at least through 2029. The accompanying diagram shows the likely releases and retirements of Office LTSC suites, which include Office Standard and Office Professional Plus suites for Windows, and Office LTSC for Mac. The Office LTSC line offers Per-Device, perpetual licensing; minimal software updates; and offline operation. These qualities make it useful for desktops shared by multiple workers and other special situations. However, Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise is Microsoft’s primary Office suite and the default choice for most information workers.

The most recent version, Office LTSC 2024, shipped media in Sept. 2024 and became generally available Oct. 1. It will be supported through Oct. 2029. It replaces Office LTSC 2021, which will be supported until Oct. 2025 when running on supported versions of Windows 10, and until Oct. 2026 when running on supported versions of Windows 11.
