Visual Studio (VS) 2015, now generally available, improves Microsoft’s primary development product offering with new productivity features, mobile application development tools, and programming language updates. VS 2015 is the integrated development environment (IDE) component of a family of development products and services that are geared to attract developers working on any application type (such as cloud, Web, mobile, and desktop). Furthermore, VS continues to gain support for developing applications on non-Microsoft platforms such as Android, iOS, and Linux. The new version could help teams starting new projects or maintaining existing ones if the time and funding for the upgrade and training are available.

Broad Set of Updates to Turnkey Dev Toolset

VS, the most popular IDE for Microsoft’s platforms, provides graphical tools for designing, coding, debugging, and testing both managed applications, based on Microsoft’s .NET Framework runtime and languages such as C# and Visual Basic (VB), and traditional, unmanaged C and C++ applications. It also includes tools and supports extensions for working with non-Microsoft languages such as JavaScript and Python and non-Microsoft platforms such as Android and iOS.
