Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) Database Edition, an integrated development environment for database programmers and administrators, has been discontinued as a separate offering and will be merged into the VSTS Developer Edition, which will enhance the database capabilities of Visual Studio for developers.

Database and Developer Editions Merge

The Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) is a line of products designed to support collaboration and communication among developers, testers, and project managers. It consists of the Team Foundation Server along with a set of specialized editions of the Visual Studio integrated development environment, with one each for software architects, software developers, software testers, and database professionals. VSTS Database Edition enables database professionals to apply VSTS features, such as change management and automated testing, to the development of database schema and stored procedures. The edition was introduced in early 2007 (well after Visual Studio 2005 shipped) under the name Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals.
