Azure Advisor is a free service that offers recommendations to help administrators improve the operational and cost effectiveness of their Azure deployments. The service also helps customers prepare for Azure service retirements. While the service doesn’t offer recommendations for every Azure service, its best-practices suggestions could reduce cost and improve efficiency and effectiveness of many services.

Near-Term Roadmap (2026–Mid-2027)

Recent updates to Advisor include the following:

Recommendation state management, a feature in preview, allows recommendations to be marked with a life-cycle status, including active, completed, postponed, and dismissed. The service tracks status and automatically marks a recommendation as completed if it detects that it has been addressed. The status tracking helps administrators triage and manage recommendations, which is especially helpful when many have been generated.

Critical risks, a feature available only to customers with certain support plans, tracks recommendations for protecting high-priority workloads (as identified by customers who must notify Microsoft account managers) from failures. The only recommendations the feature currently tracks are zone resiliency for networking services and zone resiliency for operational data storage.
