Azure Arc is a set of capabilities for using Azure to work with deployments hosted outside of Azure. Arc could simplify managing a (hybrid) combination of services hosted in Azure, on-premises, and in other clouds, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Deploying Azure services outside of Azure could help some customers meet compliance requirements that have prevented them from using Azure-hosted services. Local deployment also eliminates communications latency with Azure data centers while using the same deployment and management model as Azure. The feature could be a better solution than using Azure Stack Hub appliances, which are expensive and require specific hardware, to host Azure services outside of Azure.

Service Overview

Arc extends the Azure Resource Manager management framework to enable the creation of Azure resources for servers and Kubernetes clusters hosted outside of Azure so that they can be managed in the Azure portal and other Azure management tools. Thus, non-Azure deployments can be managed alongside Azure deployments using the same UIs and services, such as tags and policies.
