Microsoft Cost Management (MCM) is a free service that can help track, budget, forecast, alert on, and optimize Azure spending. It can help find unnecessary spending and help with mapping costs back to projects and business units.

Support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) cost management has been removed.

New MCM features arrive approximately monthly. Features that have recently become generally available include the following:

Sample prompts (called nudges) provided in Copilot in Azure help users determine useful questions to ask the Copilot when managing costs
A cost analysis add-on shows details for Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) usage, including idle time to help find underutilization, which could determine changes to make to cut costs
Enhanced exports is a set of improvements made to MCM’s capabilities to export data to other tools for reporting and analysis. These improvements include more data exported, such as reservation details; support
