Azure Maps provides geospatial data through rendered maps and APIs. The service could be useful for developers building mobile, IoT, and other types of applications with mapping and geospatial data requirements.

Near Term (2026–2027)

Maps in Microsoft Fabric, in preview, allows Maps geospatial visualization in the Real-Time Intelligence service of Fabric. The tool can be used to visualize data upon maps to help users spot insights that could be more difficult to glean from charts and tables. For example, Maps data could be used when presenting regional data or IoT readings across geographies.

Azure Maps APIs and the Azure Maps Web Control, which has separate client APIs, receive minor updates, mostly for performance and security improvements.
