RoadmapAzure Compute Fleet
Azure Compute Fleet is a service for deploying Azure VMs at scale within an Azure region, supporting management of as many as 10,000 VM instances per request. Customers can define a fleet request with several criteria, and Compute Fleet will deploy a combination of VMs that meet the defined criteria, optimized for cost, capacity, or a combination of the two. The service will also monitor fleets of deployed Spot VMs and attempt to refresh any evicted Spot VMs with available VMs that can meet the criteria defined by the fleet request.

Near-Term Roadmap (2026–2027)
Three capabilities are in preview for Compute Fleet. Attribute-based VM selection and Multi-Region Compute Fleet have been in preview since the service became generally available.
Launch mode, a deployment alternative to managed mode, allocates the fleet based on request criteria and then hands off control and self-deletes the fleet request (leaving the VMs). Launch mode can be useful for customers leveraging other tools for their VM life-cycle management.
