RoadmapAzure Container Storage
Azure Container Storage (ACS) is a volume management and provisioning service for deploying persistent storage to containers in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters, used primarily by stateful applications. The latest version of the service supports local NVMe storage and Elastic SAN as storage types while the previous version, which is still available, focuses on Azure Managed Disks and Ephemeral Disk.

Near Term (2026–2027)
Versions 2.2.1 and 1.4.2 of ACS were both released in Aug. 2026 with a full 12 months of support, which isn’t the norm for patch versions of ACS. However, this was likely to align the support window for the two versions. Although 2.2.1 includes performance, reliability, and security updates, 1.4.2 includes only security updates.
Version 2.2.0, released in June 2026, improved support for Elastic SAN storage with private endpoint support and cross-subscription support when Elastic SAN storage and AKS are in different Azure subscriptions.
