Azure Dedicated Host enables customers to rent Azure VM host servers that are dedicated to their Azure subscriptions, housed in Azure datacenters. This provides physical isolation from other customers and resembles the type of control available with on-premises datacenters, although Dedicated Host is more limited in terms of control over the hardware and software of the host itself.

Near Term (2026–2027)

No planned changes or new features are on the roadmap for Dedicated Host.

Host redeploy, in preview since Apr. 2024, makes it easier to move a host and its associated VMs to a different node of the same SKU in the event the host remains unresponsive after taking troubleshooting steps. There is no target date for general availability.

Long Term (Beyond 2027)

Dedicated Host is a stable service that receives few changes; Microsoft has announced no new features or capabilities for the service since Apr. 2024. Although Dedicated Host seems unlikely to be retired in the immediate future, it doesn’t appear to be a strategic priority for the company. Dedicated Host is deployed using the same types of host hardware used for Azure VMs, so it likely requires little additional overhead for Microsoft to maintain the service.
