Managed applications can help IT departments maintain applications deployed by the organization’s business units and help software vendors and service providers manage applications on behalf of their customers.
Product: Azure Managed Applications
Near-Term Roadmap (2026–2027)
The Azure managed applications deployment model isn’t expected to receive short-term updates.
Long-Term Roadmap (Beyond 2027)
Azure managed applications, which became generally available in Nov. 2017, is a mature model that isn’t expected to receive major changes other than availability in more Azure regions.
Directions Recommends
Deploy third-party Azure-based applications as managed applications to allow third-party management of internal solutions. The delegation of management reduces burden on internal administration staff; however, this benefit should be weighed against the loss of control internal administrators will have over managed applications.
