RoadmapNetwork Security and Management
Azure network security and management services enable customers to centrally manage large networks.
Product: Network Security and Management
Near Term (2026–2027)
Based on current previews, the following enhancements should be generally available in most Azure regions by the end of 2027.
Network Watcher previews major changes, one breaking. Network Watcher will drop Network Security Group (NSG) flow logging on Sept. 30, 2027. Companies must migrate their flow logging configurations to Azure Virtual Network (VNet) flow logging, the replacement feature. Flow logs capture low-level forward/block security decisions and have been important for troubleshooting connectivity problems. VNet flow logging covers NSG rules and adds support for the newer security policy format used in Network Security Hub. Other Network Watcher previews include visualization of container networks in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and a new connectivity troubleshooter that doesn’t require agent software installation on traffic sources.
