Five senior-level promotions were announced in conjunction with Microsoft’s recent .NET reorganization.

• Orlando Ayala was promoted to group vice president, Sales, Marketing and Services Group, replacing Jeff Raikes. Ayala was formerly senior vice president, South Pacific and Americas Region, reporting to Raikes. Ayala now reports directly to Steve Ballmer.

• Paul Flessner, who continues in his current capacity, was promoted from vice president to senior vice president, .NET Enterprise Server Group. Flessner continues to report to Group Vice President Jim Allchin.

• Brian MacDonald was promoted from vice president, Knowledge Worker Services (KWS) Division to senior vice president, Subscription Service Division. He continues to report to Group Vice President Bob Muglia.

• Kai-Fu Lee was promoted from managing director of Microsoft Research China to vice president, User Interface Technologies Division. Lee now reports to Group Vice President Bob Muglia.

• Gordon Mangione was promoted from general manager to vice president, Exchange Server Team. Mangione now reports to Senior Vice President Paul Flessner.
