Major developments for Microsoft’s business applications roadmap since the Dec. 2015 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:

  • The Office 2016 version of Office 365 ProPlus began being rolled out as an automatic upgrade in Feb. 2016.
  • Office Online Server, the successor to Office Web Apps Server, shipped to volume license customers in May 2016.
  • SharePoint Server 2016 shipped to volume license customers in May 2016.
  • Project Server 2016 shipped alongside SharePoint Server 2016 in May 2016.
  • Duet Enterprise is not included in SharePoint Server 2016 and leaves Extended support in 2020.
  • Delve Analytics became available for production use in Office 365 in Apr. 2016.
  • Yammer was turned on by default in Apr. 2016 for all Office 365 tenants whose service plans include it.
  • A Skype for Business Mac client, which should be generally available by the end of 2016, is currently in preview.
  • Talko, a hosted conferencing service, was acquired by Microsoft in late 2015
