A new application integration platform in Azure App Service is planned for the second quarter of 2016, and the next version of the BizTalk Server software is planned for the fourth quarter of 2016. BizTalk Server will remain the best choice for some integration projects, but most new Microsoft investment will go into Azure App Service, which could be a target for many new Microsoft-hosted and on-premises systems.

Parallel Technologies for Integration

Microsoft is now working on parallel technologies for application integration and business-to-business commerce systems, which enable organizations to tie together existing applications and cloud services into larger business processes with minimal changes to the applications or services themselves.

BizTalk Server is Microsoft’s software for application integration and business-to-business commerce systems. The software is commonly deployed on-premises, but it can be hosted by partners or by Microsoft in the company’s Azure Virtual Machines (VMs) service.
