BizTalk Server Roadmap

BizTalk Server is application integration software for deployment in Azure, customer, and third-party datacenters. It is Microsoft’s most mature application integration and business-to-business commerce product. However, Azure Logic Apps is now Microsoft’s primary integration technology. 

Product: BizTalk Server 

Near Term (2025–2026)

• The next cumulative update (CU) for BizTalk Server should appear in the second half of 2025; it will deliver compatibility with Windows Server 2025
• A CU in 2026 will probably deliver compatibility for SQL Server 2025 and for the next Visual Studio version.

Long Term (2027–2029)

BizTalk Server 2020 is probably the last version of the product (see fig. 1).

When it leaves support in 2030, any remaining customers will probably be encouraged to migrate to Logic Apps or a successor technology. At that point, “migration” of a system could require a complete reimplementation.

If enough customers remain to sustain BizTalk Server, Microsoft could use a tactic previously applied to its Commerce Server e-commerce software: Sell the product to a committed ISV.
