Copilot Studio lets makers build agents using low-code techniques. Makers can use natural language to start building a new agent and while continuing to develop the agents. They can also manually specify configuration elements of an agent, including the following:

Name, Description, and Icon are basic metadata to identify the agent.

Instructions are a natural language description of what the agent does and how it responds. For example, “answer questions about the items in the product catalog using a professional tone.”

Suggested prompts arestarter prompts to help users interact with the agent. Suggested prompts are shown in some UIs where an agent can be published.

Knowledge specifies the information sources that are used by an agent. These can be Web sites, SharePoint sites, Dataverse databases, and information returned from Azure AI Search, Dynamics 365, Azure SQL, and external sources, such as Salesforce and ServiceNow.

Tools consist of actions performed by connectors, such as Excel and Salesforce functions, and by MCP servers, such as those for GitHub and Box.
