SidebarM365 Copilot and Copilot Chat for PowerPoint
M365 Copilot for PowerPoint can help jumpstart creating presentations for users supporting functions like marketing, sales, and executive briefings. The upgrade to use Copilot Chat in PowerPoint (Sept. 2025) makes many of the benefits available to all M365 subscribers without a M365 Copilot license.
Copilot Chat
Copilot Chat (unlicensed) in a side pane lets users summarize, ask questions, and generate presentations using natural language. Attaching files adds context and improves accuracy. However, since Copilot Chat does not edit presentations directly, users must select “Copy” or manually apply changes. It can use only Web content for grounding, and users require PAYG billing to access agents. Copilot Chat also enables sharing conversations across the Office and M365 Copilot apps for collaboration, but some previous features may no longer be available.
M365 Copilot
M365 Copilot licensed users receive additional capabilities. Copilot Chat, with an M365 Copilot license, leverages both Web and work content and provides access to agents without PAYG. In the application pane, there are two Copilot context menus. The first is at the slide level to help create presentations using plain language and add slides using either plain language or suggested prompts. The second is for text boxes that assist with drafting or rewriting text using predefined options like Auto-rewrite and Condense, but it does not support plain language.
