The next version of BizTalk Server will probably appear in the fourth quarter of 2016. The new version, labeled 2016 here, will deliver compatibility with Windows Server 2016, SQL Server 2016, and the latest Visual Studio version available at its launch. The next version of the Host Integration Server mainframe integration software, labeled 2016 here, will ship with BizTalk Server 2016.

BizTalk Server 2006 and 2006 R2 leave Extended support July 12, 2016. (Host Integration Server 2006, in contrast, leaves Extended support Apr. 11, 2017.) BizTalk 2006 and 2006 R2 customers should generally be migrating to BizTalk Server 2013 R2, the current version, or preparing to move to BizTalk Server 2016. BizTalk Server 2006 or 2006 R2 customers who plan to migrate to BizTalk Server 2016 should be aware that although Microsoft has announced that BizTalk Server 2016 release is planned for Q4 2016, that date might slip. Customers might require a Custom Support Agreement to assure Microsoft product support between the end of Extended support and the production release of BizTalk Server 2016.
