Office 365 Cloud App Security, included with Office 365 E5 User Subscription Licenses (User SLs), shares several features with Cloud App Security but also has several limitations, including limited reporting. Both services support manual or automatic uploading of logs from proxy or firewall devices, and the ability to define application permissions or revoke access from the limited set of connected applications (applications with Microsoft-implemented app connectors).

Both services offer administrator-defined policies that are used to monitor user behavior. Both services can also provide alerts or trigger an action to resolve any violations to policies defined by the administrator or publish events to an external security information and event management (SIEM) system for analysis there.
