The Core Client Access License (CAL) Suite can deliver discounts for organizations that use several Microsoft server products. An organization buying the Core CAL Suite receives a discount of more than 20% versus buying the component licenses separately. The table shows the price of the Core CAL Suite versus the cost of its component CALs, Client Management Licenses (CMLs), and subscription licenses (SLs).

All license prices listed here represent the highest price a midsized U.S. company would typically pay and are mostly taken from the Dec. 2015 U.S. Select Plus Level A price list. The Core CAL Suite must be purchased with Software Assurance (SA); a license-only purchase is not offered.

In most cases, the cost quoted for the initial three years includes a perpetual license with three years of SA, and the cost for the subsequent three years is the charge for SA renewal. The one exception, System Center Endpoint Protection, is available only on a subscription basis.
