  • Dynamics 365 Finance + Operations high-end licenses provide the right to access many features across multiple applications.
  • The extra rights benefit users like supervisors and managers who perform tasks in multiple areas.
  • Understanding which features are available through high-end licenses can help reduce licensing costs and prevent over-licensing.

Dynamics 365 Finance + Operations enterprise resource planning (ERP) users whose jobs require access to features in multiple applications do not always need more than one license. The service is divided into five functional applications that have high-level licenses, which include access to medium and low-level features in the other applications. The illustration on the left shows overall Dynamics 365 Finance + Operations packaging, highlighting the multiple levels of functionality for each application. The illustration on the right provides an example (discussed below) of the cross-application rights granted to high-end application licenses, in this example, the Supply Chain Management high-end user license. Companies that understand these rules can optimize their Dynamics ERP spending, but the rules are poorly documented, so even Microsoft purchasing experts might not be taking full advantage of them.
