Some premium Web content management features require the Enterprise Client Access License (CAL) as well as the standard CAL when used on-premises. The chart here summarizes the packaging of some features discussed in this report that are new with SharePoint Server 2013 or substantially improved by it.
Features are listed by the names used in this report, with any other names used in Microsoft documentation in parentheses. Features listed as “Premium” require both the SharePoint Server 2013 Standard and Enterprise CALs for access by employees and on-site contractors on-premises, except for sites publicly available over the Internet. Premium features are not available in SharePoint Online, and none of the features listed here are available in SharePoint 2013 Foundation, the free extension to Windows Server.
