Charts & IllustrationsOffice 365 Editions
Office 365 for business is divided into multiple editions, designed to meet the needs of small businesses (up to 25 employees), midsized businesses (up to 300 employees), or large enterprises, where Microsoft provides no stated limit of users. This chart describes most of the Office 365 plans, their market segments, and prices in U.S. dollars. The lowest tier of business editions offers only Microsoft-hosted services such as Exchange Online, while higher tiers add the Office suite. Businesses should carefully consider the size of their organization as well as their business goals, as Microsoft currently provides no automated migration of a business tenant (organization) from one product family to another, as a business with 290 users that grows over 300 might require. An organization can move individual subscriptions between the two small business editions or between the three enterprise editions, but not across the editions offered for each customer segment. The previously available Enterprise E2 edition has been combined with E1, resulting in a gap in how the editions are named.
