Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 saw major improvements to SMS. The most recent service pack, SMS 2003 SP1, includes many new features, including support for managing virtual machines. Other SMS 2003 feature packs support OS deployment and managing mobile devices. The end of Mainstream support for SMS 2003 will be determined by the release date of its successor, but it will come no earlier than 2008.
