Visual Basic 6.0 Extended support ended Apr. 8, 2008, having left Mainstream support Mar. 31, 2005. Support for the Visual Basic development environment requires a custom support contract, and prices for such contracts will typically rise each year. All other Visual Studio 6.0 components left Mainstream support in 2003, and Extended support is not available.

The Visual Basic 6.0 run time and the Visual Basic for Applications development environment and run time are not affected by these dates; instead, they follow the support schedules of products that ship them (such as Windows and Office).
