Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003 are the only fully supported versions of Microsoft’s server OSs as of June 2004. Extended support for Windows NT 4.0 Server ends Dec. 31, 2004, and support other than security-related hotfixes requires a custom support contract. Extended support for Windows 2000 will end in 2010, rather than 2007 as originally planned, due to a May 2004 policy change.

As with other products, server OSs are supported with only the most recent service pack, but customers receive up to two years to migrate to that service pack. For example, Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 3 will be supported until June 26, 2004.
