New financial reporting segments cut across Microsoft’s product technology groups. This chart shows Microsoft’s five new financial reporting segments (in the columns) and the technology groups and managers (in the rows) responsible for products reported in a segment.

Consumer Office and Consumer Windows (in the Devices and Consumer Licensing segment) include OEM and nonvolume licensing of the Windows OS and Office suite. This means primarily sales to consumers but would also include many small business sales. Volume licensing sales of Office and Windows are called Commercial Windows and Commercial Office, respectively, and appear in the Commercial Licensing segment.

Dynamics Business Solutions (in the Commercial Licensing segment) include all sales of Dynamics products other than Dynamics CRM Online service, which is reported in the Commercial Other segment.

Microsoft has not said where Nokia phone sales will be reported, but they would likely go in the Devices and Consumer Hardware segment and be managed by the Devices and Studio group under Steven Elop (Nokia’s former CEO) and Julie Larson-Green.
