Search Features in SharePoint Editions

Search features vary among the editions of SharePoint Server 2007.

SharePoint Server 2007 for Search comes in two editions, Standard and Enterprise, neither of which requires Client Access Licenses (CALs). Organizations may allow anonymous external users to access SharePoint Server 2007 for Search over the Internet—for example, to enable search on a corporate Web site—at no extra charge.

The full version of SharePoint Server 2007 can be accessed using a Standard CAL alone or a Standard CAL plus an Enterprise CAL. (Customers must buy Enterprise CALs in addition to, not in place of, Standard CALs.)

All prices are for the Open License volume license program in the United States; prices are lower for Select and Enterprise Agreements.

(For more details on licensing, see “Appendix: Requirements, Licensing, and Pricing“.)
