SharePoint Server Subscription Edition (SE) Feature Update 25H1, included in the Mar. 2025 Public Update (PU), includes updates allowing customers to continue using Cloud Hybrid Search after June 30th, 2025. Administrators with hybrid search deployments should act quickly to avoid disruption. Notable features include several security updates and support for the Microsoft Graph Connector.

Cloud Hybrid Search upgrade. The Search Content Service, a component within Cloud Hybrid Search in SharePoint Online, will be retired on June 30, 2025. To continue using Cloud Hybrid Search with SharePoint Server SE, customers must upgrade to version 25H1 and reconnect the Hybrid Search Service Application (Cloud SSA) using PowerShell. Customers who do not upgrade must switch to using Hybrid Federated Search to maintain similar functionality. Admins should perform this change early to avoid impacting users.

Security features. New security-related features include support for RSA public keys in Open ID Connect (OIDC) authentication configuration, automatic machine key rotation, and scanning the body of Web requests in Antimalware Scanning Interface (AMSI). The PU also adds support for a new database connectivity layer for .Net applications that supports TLS 1.3 and TDS 8.0. The new layer improves SharePoint Server’s compatibility with SQL Server and Azure SQL.
