Azure Machine Learning is Microsoft’s enterprise AI engineering and machine learning operations (MLOps) platform. ML professionals, data scientists, and engineers use it to train and deploy models, manage MLOps, and monitor traditional machine learning and generative AI models, including small language models (SLMs) for business. Machine Learning provides managed infrastructure, model catalogs, model deployment, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, evaluation, and MLOps capabilities.

Near-Term Roadmap (Mid-2026–2027)

Azure Machine Learning addresses the growing challenge of moving AI models through a managed life cycle from development into secure, managed, and repeatable production for business use. Microsoft is increasingly aligning Azure Machine Learning with Foundry and Fabric, signaling a long-term commitment to an integrated AI ecosystem. The primary risks are cost unpredictability, evolving governance requirements, and continued overlap among Microsoft’s AI platforms, which may complicate technology decisions.
