Like its predecessor, BizTalk Server 2004 is available in Enterprise, Standard, Partner, and Developer Editions. Editions differ primarily in the number of processors the product can use in a multiprocessor machine, the number of trading partners that can be interconnected, and the number of applications integrated by BizTalk. (For a chart outlining these limitations, see “BizTalk Server 2004 Limits.”) All versions run on Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003 and can run on Windows XP Professional for development and testing; some versions require SQL Server as well. Unlike previous versions, which supported only four languages, BizTalk 2004 is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese.

Details for each version are as follows:

BizTalk Server 2004 Enterprise Edition allows an unlimited number of connections to trading partners and applications, and an unlimited number of processors per server. It requires SQL Server 2000 and starts at US$25,000 per processor—the same as BizTalk 2002 Enterprise.
