Analyst ReportCorrection: Tablet PC 2005 Languages
The Multilingual User Interface (MUI) and Recognition Packs released for earlier versions of the Tablet PC platform cannot be used with Tablet PC 2005. This is in contrast to our report “Tablet PC Seeks Mainstream” on page 16 of the Oct. 2004 Update. Directions on Microsoft regrets the error.
Rather than using the previous Tablet PC language support, the language support for the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 platform runs as follows:
User interface languages. A Tablet PC 2005 Multilingual User Interface (MUI) pack released Sept. 2004 provides menus, help files, and other user interface text in Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish.
Handwriting recognizers. A Tablet PC 2005 Recognizer Pack released in Oct. 2004 supports handwriting recognition for Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English (U.K. and U.S.), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. Unlike the Recognition Pack for the earlier version of the Tablet PC platform, this Recognition Pack does not include additional speech recognizers.
