The latest version of Microsoft’s Datacenter Services (DCS) solution, based on System Center 2012, allows large customers to work with the Microsoft Services division to tailor an appropriate solution for their datacenter infrastructure needs. Customers get a highly integrated, automated, flexible datacenter design and management infrastructure using the latest Microsoft technologies and tools. The services are aimed at enterprise customers, not small or medium businesses, and features vary depending on the size of the datacenter and the amount of customization required. Support for using Windows Server 2012 has not yet been announced, though it is likely to come soon.

Goals of Datacenter Services

DCS is a set of services offered by Microsoft Services (the company’s enterprise strategy, consulting, and support division) to help customers or hosting partners quickly implement modern datacenter infrastructures using Microsoft products with an integrated approach based on tested techniques. DCS 2.0, announced in Apr. 2012, relies on Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 and System Center 2012 technologies and is now available; it will likely be updated to support Windows Server 2012 with the release of System Center 2012 SP1 in late 2012.
