Dynamics Mobile Tools Updated

An updated software development toolkit will allow ISVs and other Microsoft partners to create Windows Mobile applications for Dynamics NAV, one of Microsoft’s four enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications. The Dynamics Mobile Development Tools are a set of Visual Studio tools used to build applications for Windows Mobile devices. In addition, a Dynamics NAV service pack adds support for Dynamics Mobile Sales, an application built with the toolkit that helps sales personnel complete common tasks from a Windows Mobile device. Previously, the toolkit and Mobile Sales application supported only Dynamics AX, Microsoft’s high-end ERP product.

Adding support for the mobile toolkit in Dynamics NAV, the Dynamics product with the largest customer base, offers partners a potentially lucrative opportunity to generate additional business. However, Microsoft will continue to build mobile applications using the toolkit, so partners should move cautiously to avoid overlap.
