  • New Copilot Business Outcome reports (in preview) suggest correlations between customer business metrics (KPIs) and Microsoft 365 Copilot usage.
  • The reports could show where Microsoft 365 Copilot is adding customer value or could be better utilized.
  • However, the results in the reports are not guaranteed to be driven directly by Copilot usage and could be caused by other factors.

Existing and potential Microsoft 365 Copilot customers have asked for tools to demonstrate the value of the pricey natural-language based assistant. Early tools from Microsoft have performed simple calculations, such as counting the number of e-mail, document, and meeting summaries performed by Copilot users and equating that with time—and consequently money—saved. New Copilot Analytics tools, such as the Business Outcome reports, go further by suggesting correlations between specific types of employee success and patterns of Copilot usage. Organizations will need to assess whether the correlations are accurate or other factors are involved.
