Skype for Business Online Cloud PBX is a Microsoft-hosted private branch exchange (PBX) service for basic telephony features that can replace or supplement on-premises PBX systems. The service could benefit organizations deploying phone systems to smaller, remote offices, such as regional sales offices or international locations, because it can offer quicker deployment, central management, and reduced cost as compared to on-premises equipment. Cloud PBX is included with the new Office 365 E5 plan and as an add-on to other Office 365 plans. Calling plans with domestic and international minutes are separate and are currently limited to U.S. customers.

Cloud PBX Overview

Cloud PBX offers hosted Skype for Business Server systems with Enterprise Voice features enabled. With Enterprise Voice, Skype for Business can act as a PBX and enable users to call and receive calls through public switched telephone networks (PSTNs). The service includes many basic PBX features, such as voice mail, call forwarding, delegation, and call parking.
