SQL Server 2016 will bring many improvements to components for analyzing data and for importing, cleaning up, and organizing data from databases and other data sources. Analysis Services improves performance through parallel processing and other means, and it enhances data modeling to help end users understand the data they are analyzing and build queries and reports faster. Integration Services improves deployment, upgrade, and high-availability features for administrators and includes an import method for migrating self-service queries and transformations from Excel. Many improvements require Enterprise edition, and changes to Analysis Services will require extensive testing and redeployment for some applications.

Analysis Services

Analysis Services is an online analytical processing (OLAP) and data mining SQL Server component that can process and return results from large, complex data sets to help guide business decisions. Organizations typically load data into Analysis Services databases (called models) from operational sources (such as enterprise resource planning [ERP] databases and other business applications) to organize it for efficient analysis. Analysis Services has two modes of organizing data:
