  • Entra ID and Intune both present management challenges to organizations that are loosely managed or have any structural complexity.
  • In many of these cases, organizations will choose to deploy multiple tenancies, which will create even more challenges.
  • Entra ID and Intune suffer most from these issues, but services reliant on Entra ID will also be impacted.
  • Some features can ease, but do not solve, these issues, forcing organizations to plan around them.

While Entra ID (previously called Azure Active Directory [AAD]) and Intune offer increasingly more powerful management capabilities, only organizations that are uniformly managed, relatively flat, and regularly pruned will find these services easy to use across the organization. Those organizations with extensive merger and acquisition activity or those composed of multiple loosely connected divisions or subsidiaries will find challenges with Entra ID for user management and Intune for device management. Additional Microsoft 365 services and related services will have similar issues.
