  • The latest Windows 10 version delivers a sandbox for untrusted software and other small security and management improvements.
  • Windows Enterprise customers might wait for the version expected in late 2019, which will offer a longer support period.

Windows 10 version 1903 (the “May Update”) became generally available on May 21, 2019. It delivers some new security and management features, but it also removes features, and most Windows Enterprise customers are likely to skip it.

Sandbox and Update Rollback Lead Features

Notable changes in 1903 for large organizations include the following:

Windows Sandbox provides an isolated desktop environment for running untrusted software. Windows Sandbox uses Windows Hyper-V to create a lightweight desktop environment tailored to safely run applications in isolation. A Windows Sandbox is a VM running a secondary instance of Windows 10 based on the edition installed on the device rather than a separately downloaded or prepackaged image.

Update rollback provides automatic return of a device to a known good operating state if installation of a driver or monthly quality update results in a device that cannot restart properly.
