Analyst ReportWindows 11
Windows 11 is the latest version of the Windows client OS for desktop and portable devices, including all-in-one, laptop, tablet, and Windows-based IoT devices. It includes specialized and distinct editions with different features targeting diverse groups from home and consumer to enterprise users. With the release of Windows 11, Microsoft transitioned to a Modern Lifecycle Policy that delivers one version per year via a General Availability Channel (GAC). Other Feature Updates and changes are delivered with Quality Updates at Microsoft’s discretion. (For support details, see “Windows Client Timeline“.)
Windows 11 GAC
Windows 11 22H2 became generally available in Sept. 2022 via the GAC. Windows 11, like Windows 10, gets monthly Quality (security) Updates. Windows 11 23H2 will likely become generally available in the last quarter of calendar year 2023.
Windows 11 Enterprise and Education versions qualify for 36 months of support, which is longer than the 30-month support period that releases of Windows 10 Enterprise and Education editions offered.
