Azure App Service Environment (ASE), a deployment option for Azure App Service, can provide improved network isolation and scalability compared to other App Service deployment options. App Service is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering for hosting several types of Web applications and services. ASE could enable organizations to securely deploy high-traffic line-of-business applications while meeting compliance requirements and gaining PaaS benefits such as reduced infrastructure design and maintenance tasks. However, ASE can be significantly more expensive than other App Service deployment options and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) installations.

Several Types of PaaS Applications Supported

App Service supports PaaS hosting of:

  • Web Apps, which are Web sites and applications that can be built with most popular Web technologies
  • Mobile Apps, which support mobile applications with back-end services such as authentication, storage, and notifications
  • API Apps, which deliver
